Many times when filming docs we are challenged with finding the story in the edit. Because of the years of knowing the subject on a personal level, I was able to shape my pre-production and storyboarding process around his unique upbringing, struggles, and successes in Puerto Rico and the game of baseball. A full day spent with "Dio" meant a lot of laughs, memories, and childhood stories - a lot of stuff in there so we could later, "find it in the edit."
